SAA enters agreement with Emirates─── 12:39 Tue, 18 Dec 2018
South African Airways (SAA) said on Tuesday that it had signed a partnership deal with Emirates airline.
The deal would see the two firms expand an existing codeshare agreement and work on other areas of cooperation.
“The expansion of our commercial relationship will further strengthen key focus areas of the implementation of our turnaround plan,” SAA Chief Executive Vuyani Jarana said.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has been at pains to stabilise struggling state-run firms like SAA, which has not generated a profit since 2011.
SAA's interim chief financial officer told Parliament last month it needs R3,5-billion for procurement over the next four months.
