Heavy rainfall patterns for central SA expected to start easing off on Friday | News Article

Rainfall patterns experienced in parts of central SA are expected to start easing off on Friday.

This comes after the South African Weather Service issued a flood warning for the eastern parts of the Free State, parts of the North West, Gauteng, Highveld areas of Mpumalanga and places in Kwa-Zulu Natal on Wednesday, March 21.

Forecaster at the South Africa Weather Service’s Bloemfontein office, Tonie Rossouw, says rainfall conditions in the northern Free State, and eastern parts of the North West were expected to continue into Thursday evening and start clearing from Friday onward.

Thunderstorm activity in the Northern Cape will also start clearing from Friday. He says the flood warning, however, remains in place.

Rossouw says “as the system moves eastwards, we will start seeing some sunny conditions moving in from the west by Friday afternoon”.

He says we will therefore have a sunny weekend up until Sunday when scattered to widespread thundershowers are expected again over the North West, Free State and eastern parts of the Northern Cape.

Rossouw says the rainfall conditions are normal for this time of the year.
