#RoadDeaths: One dead, nine injured in NW accident─── PULANE CHOANE 11:32 Tue, 25 Dec 2018
One person was fatally injured while nine others sustained injuries varying from critical to minor, following an accident on the R556 in Modikwe, in rural Rustenburg in North West.
This is according to Netcare 911’s spokesperson, Shawn Herbst, who says paramedics responded to the collision on Tuesday morning, and early reports allege that the driver of the small light delivery vehicle lost control, causing the vehicle to flip over.
One of the people was found to be in a critical condition and due to the nature of the patient's injuries, paramedics on the scene called for a medical helicopter, which airlifted the patient to a nearby hospital.
Seven other people were treated on scene and, once stabilised, were transported by various ambulance services to hospital for further treatment.
Events leading up to the collision will be investigated by the police who were on scene.
