Former Minister of Sports and Recreation, Fikile Mbalula has been found to have violated the Executive Ethics Code over a trip to Dubai.

This is according to a report by Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane. Mkhwebane released a total of 8 reports on Thursday, to give findings on investigations conducted this quarter. Mbalula’s Dubai trip made headlines in 2016, after it was revealed that it was bankrolled by sports supplier Sedgars.

The trip cost a whopping R680 000.

Meanwhile,  Mkhwebane has found that Premier Helen Zille has violated the constitution. This is in regards to her involvement in the procurement of computer tablets, for an initiative that was co-founded by her son. Mkhwebane says evidence reveals that Zille’s relationship with her son constituted private interest which was enough to influence her official duties.
