The DA’s Member of Parliament (MP), Joe McGluwa, in a statement says that the municipality has again witnessed a recurring theme that has collapsed any prospect of good governance in the City.

He says the election of ANC candidate Washington Ntozini with 31 votes robbed the residents of Matlosana from quality basic service delivery.

OFM News on Tuesday afternoon reported that former embattled mayor, Maetu Kgaile, also contested the elections and received 26 votes while the DA voted for the Freedom Front Plus’ (FF+) candidate, Michal Groenewald, who received 17 votes.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Task Team PTT coordinator, Kenewe Mosenogi, on Tuesday told OFM News that the ANC will on Wednesday be releasing a statement after the party put forward two ANC mayoral candidates.

"Like I said, we have noted events coming from Matlosana and we will be meeting with the caucus of that area and we will be able to release a statement to this effect by tomorrow," says Mosenogi. 

The EFF Regional Secretary in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District, Buti Shuping, told OFM News that the EFF and the DA did not put any candidate forward.

Mosenogi earlier told OFM News that they wanted to engage with all the members of the ANC caucus to ensure that they find common solutions and reinstate the executive mayor of the ANC.

In a statement, McGluwa went as far as accusing Premier Job Mokgoro of having no vision or plan to bring stability and growth in the province for the benefit of communities who are in dire need of services.
