The Northern Cape police are not ruling out more arrests following two suspects’ arrest for robberies, hijacking, and abduction.

Police spokesperson, Mohale Ramatseba, says the two will set foot in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court tomorrow on charges of armed robbery.

He says the two were arrested last week in Brits in the North West after the police successful traced the suspects after they were linked to these heinous crimes in the Sol Plaatje municipal area.

OFM News has previously reported about the high spate of robberies and hijackings that include cash-in-transit heists in central South Africa’s cities. Mohale is appealing to anyone who could have been robbed or been victim of the same modus operandi to come forward.

“Anyone with information is kindly requested to contact the Investigating Officer, in this case, Captain Tshawa Browers, on 082-4471-829,” says Mohale.

Nine suspects were arrested after a failed attempt to hijack a cash van in Mahikeng in September while police are still on the search for a group of suspects who robbed a G4S van in August in Heidedal, Bloemfontein in the Free State.

The duo aged 27 and 32 were arrested immediately after the activation of a 48-hour action plan after the Provincial Commissioner, Risimati Peter Shivuri, instructed that the plan is activated.

In a statement the police say the unsuspecting victims were accosted at gunpoint by the suspects, held against their will and tied up in the veld, tormented until they disclosed their banking details, including bank cards and pin codes.

The statement further says in the process the suspects will drive to town or the nearest ATM’s and withdraw a large amount of cash from the bank accounts of the victims.
