No breakthrough on #TwinCity Mall robbery | News Article

No arrests. No identikits of alleged robbers and no recovery of stolen money. This is the progress of the police in the Cash in transit heist that rocked the Heidedal, Bloemfontein last month.

The police was hot on the trail of a wounded suspect, trolling all hospitals in the area to see if he attended emergency wards for treatment – but to no avail. National Police spokesperson, Vish Naidoo, told OFM News the police have been gathering the intelligence on the case but has not led to the arrest of the suspects and they are still at large.

In an earlier interview, about the case, Naidoo said the police roped in specialised units such as crime intelligence, forensic experts and the Hawks to tighten up screws and to make sure that they leave no stone unturned.

“We did mobilise the 72-hour action which entails the mobilisation of critical resources to generate as much information and intelligence which can help us successfully trace and arrest those responsible. But not in every case, we can expect 100% success rate,” says Naidoo.

Naidoo earlier told OFM News that a group of suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash. He said various processes were being followed.

He added on Monday, there has been at least 82% to 85% successful arrests, soon after the launching of a 72-hour action plan across the country.

Meanwhile an eyewitness from another security company told OFM News that five suspects robbed the G4S vehicle and took a bag with an undisclosed amount of money.
