Situation calm in Bloemhof─── 10:33 Sat, 22 Sep 2018
The Department of Education in North West says it's saddened by the death of a 16-year-old Grade 9 pupil in Boitumelong Township in Bloemhof, who was allegedly killed by a mob of taxi drivers.
Spokesperson Freddy Sepeng says the pupil was reportedly not part of a gang, which the angry mob was targeting, but was merely walking down the street when he was snatched and beaten.
He later died at a local clinic.
Violence again erupted in this area during the week with residents allegedly attacking suspected gang members.
Meanwhile, police spokesperson Amanda Funani says that no-one has yet been arrested for the murders thus far reported in the area.
She adds the investigation in the matter has hit a stumbling block as no-one is prepared to come forward with evidence but says the situation is calm this morning.
