The doors of the restaurant The Edge, which is situated a few meters away from the Nelson Mandela statue on Naval Hill, will finally be opening after a wait of approximately four years.

The Executive Mayor of the Mangaung Metro Municipality, Cllr Olly Mlamleli, officially handed over the restaurant to the new contractors during a ceremony on Naval Hill this morning.

The three gentlemen, Henk Pieterse, Nico van der Westhuizen and Mzamo Ramoipone, who also run the popular “Iewers Nice” restaurant in Mimosa Mall, will have the mammoth task of running the restaurant.

The restaurant has been a hot topic for locals who awaited its opening amidst delays involving procedures regarding the building.

Bloemfontein Courant spoke to the three, but they were reluctant to reveal much about the plans they have for The Edge.

So it seems like all the eager locals will just have to be a little more patient to see what’s in store for them.
