Child labour still a challenge for FS labour department─── 15:10 Wed, 15 Aug 2018
The unending scourge of child labour has been described as a thorn in the eye of the department of labour.
This is according to the Free State Department spokesperson, Josial Ramokoena, who informed OFM News that the department will present the anti-child labour campaign at Frikkie Cronje Stadium, in Wesselsbron.
Mokoena says this after the department realised that child labour, particularly in agriculture, is still occurring in the Free State province as well.
Ramokoena added that late last year the department uncovered incidences of child labour in Bothaville, Wesselsbron, Allanridge, and Welkom. OFM News reported about a prominent labour broker who was arrested following allegations of child labour were leveled against him.
“We are going to have such an event to raise awareness and inform our community members that child labour is happening and child labour is one of those thorny issues we are dealing with as the department,” says Ramokoena.
