Free State miner death still under investigation─── JOSCA HUMAN 06:59 Fri, 20 Jul 2018
The circumstances surrounding the death of a miner at Harmony Gold Mining Company's Tshepong mine in Welkom, in the Free State, are still being investigated.
This comes after former minister of Mineral resources, Mosebenzi Zwane, encouraged mines, to sharpen-up on their health and safety-measures after three mine-workers died at Harmony Gold-mine in the Free State last year. Group Communications Manager of Harmony Gold, Sihle Maake, told OFM News safety is their main priority, and that their employees are trained and briefed daily on safety communication.
The mine worker at the Tshepong mine in Welkom, died Thursday. The Department of Mineral Resources has been informed and an investigation into the accident is underway. Management has expressed their deepest condolences to the deceased employee’s family, friends and colleagues. The name of the deceased has not been released yet.
