A suspected rhino poacher is to appear in the Mogwase Magistrate’s Court in the North West tomorrow.

The 39-year-old Arnelo Mhlanga faces charges of the possession of rhino horns and the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The provincial police spokesperson, Aafje Botma, told OFM News that the suspect has already made his first appearance in court on 4 July.

Botma further says the suspect was arrested on 2 July between Sun City and Madikwe.

The police, who responded quickly after being informed about the incident, arrested the accused while two other suspects managed to flee and evade the arrest,” says Botma.

“Upon further investigation, six rhino horns, an illegal firearm, as well as an axe were found inside the vehicle,” adds Botma.
