Two trucks were looted and set alight in Majakaneng, along the R104, in North West.
Police spokesperson, Sabata Mokgwabone, says police and traffic officials are on the scene and motorists need to comply, as one lane is currently open for traffic.
Mokgwabone says police were alerted at 05:30 this morning, about alleged protests that are taking place. At this stage, it is unclear what residents in the area might be protesting over.
He says there is, however, a heavy police presence. The N4 has not been affected. Mokgwabone says motorists can use that as an alternative route. Mokgwabone earlier said the road might be closed for a short while this morning, as authorities need to remove the wreckages.
