MPLs debate FS provincial budget─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 15:46 Thu, 22 Mar 2018
The Free State Finance MEC, Elzabe Rockman, is soon expected to explain how she intends to address the question of unemployment and the lack of economic growth.
This, as Members of the Provincial Legislature debate the provincial budget which she tabled last week at Gariep Dam. Although the bulk of the budget was allocated to two financially troubled departments - the departments of education and health - opposition parties argue that more still needs to be done to address issues faced by these departments. This includes ensuring that critical positions are filled.
Responding to these concerns, members of the ruling party emphasised that both the department of education and the department of health are no longer under Treasury's care and this serves as an example of the progress achieved by the ANC-led government.
They argued that the budget tabled is an indication of the government's commitment to economic growth.
