SA needs to curb corruption in both the public and private sector─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 15:03 Mon, 19 Feb 2018
Economic Development Minister, Ebrahim Patel, says corruption and the irregular awarding of tenders have cost the country immensely.
Speaking during the debate of the State of the Nation Address (SONA), Patel said the government needs to ensure that those implicated in state capture are held accountable. He says moving forward they are going to ensure that key infrastructure-linked projects are reviewed and cabinet receives reports on actions by law enforcement agencies to recover money improperly paid out.
Patel adds that fraud in the private sector also needs to be attended to, and private companies implicated in the state capture brought to book.
