#BackToSchool: NC Education MEC visits schools on first day─── NOMAQHAWE MTEBELE 11:20 Wed, 17 Jan 2018
Northern Cape MEC of Education, Martha Bartlett, will be visiting three schools today. Bartlett, as well as other members of the department, will be visiting various schools throughout the province as the school year begins.
The visits are a way to determine school readiness. Newton Primary School in Kimberley was the first school to be visited this morning while Northern Cape High School and Roodepan Primary School are to follow.
According to Bartlett, there are plans to also visit underperforming schools this year.
“We, as a department, wanted to make sure that we are ready with learning and support material and that the schools are ready from day one,” explained Bartlett. Newton Primary was ready and Northern Cape High School, which had failures last year, would also be visited, according to Bartlett.
