Three to appear in court for copper theft─── NOMAQHAWE MTEBELE 15:09 Thu, 02 Nov 2017
Three men, found with copper cable weighing about 175.9 kg wrapped around their bodies, will be appearing before the Bafokeng Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
The suspects were arrested and charged with illegal possession of copper cables in Phokeng today. This comes after patrolling police noticed a suspicious looking vehicle and stopped it for a search. According to police’s Kelebogile Moleko, they discovered the copper cable wrapped around the men as well as other suspected stolen goods in the boot.
According to Moleko, the trio’s court appearance follows their arrest by patrolling Phokeng police at around 06:00 this morning. Copper cable with an estimated street value of R20 000 was found. “Upon further search, the police found suspected stolen property which included two jackets, trousers, and a cap inside the boot of the vehicle.
The suspects are aged between 25 and 29.
