Nehawu claims criminal cases were mishandled | News Article

The National Education Health & Allied Workers’ Union (Nehawu) claims that two cases of fraud and defeating the ends of justice were mishandled by police in Kimberley.

This comes after the union opened cases against the Speaker, CFO, and Chief of Staff at the Northern Cape Legislature at the Kimberley Police Station earlier this month. Police allegedly failed to properly open cases before case files were lost.

The Northern Cape Police were unavailable for comment. According to Nehawu’s Khaya Xaba, the union wants the case to be handled at provincial level instead…

There are two cases. One is that of fraud and the second one is defeating the ends of justice. Both relate to non-compliance to the mandate and not reporting fraud, especially when it was discovered. So that one was directed to the speaker who knew what happened. To us that represents defeating the ends of justice,” explained Xaba.
