FS not expecting irregularities during #NSC2017Exams─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 15:58 Mon, 23 Oct 2017
The exams quality assurance body, Umalusi, says it’s all systems go for the 2017 National Senior Certificate examinations and that it is pleased with the standard of examinations.
This, as exams are expected to get into full swing tomorrow when more than 630 000 learners will sit for English Paper 1.
The Department of Basic Education added that all measures are being taken to prevent irregularities. The Free State Department of Education, as one of the top matric pass rate achievers, has also gone out to say exams have been running smoothly with no reports of irregularities. The provincial department’s spokesperson, Howard Ndaba, has told OFM News that the province is taking all measures to prevent any papers from getting leaked and that the province still plans to remain in the number one position.
The Department of Basic Education says a total of 634 527 full-time and 168 109 part-time candidates are registered to write this year’s exams. While the Free State will see 32 448 learners sitting for exams the highest number of full-time candidates, namely 153 624, is registered in KwaZulu-Natal.
