Delareyville 28 appear in court; case postponed─── DANE BEISHEIM 11:50 Wed, 18 Oct 2017
Altogether 28 people – including 19 women and 9 men – who were arrested on Monday for public violence in Delareyville in North West, appeared briefly in the local Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
According to the police spokesperson, Pelonomi Makau, the matter was postponed until November 17. The residents allegedly went on the rampage due to unhappiness over a lack of service delivery in the area.
The community of Delareyville barricaded a section of the R507 road from Geysdorp to Delareyville with burning tyres and rocks on that particular day. Another group blocked the N14 road from Vryburg to Delareyville and the N14 between Sannieshof and Delareyville, which consequently disturbed the flow of traffic.
The community also allegedly looted foreign nationals' stores in Extension 7 outside the town.
