Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa should become the next president of the African National Congress.

This is according to former MEC and Free State ANC Treasurer, Mxolisi Dukwana. This is ahead of the party’s national conference where a new leader will be elected in December. Ramaphosa and Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma are two candidates who are vying for the presidential position. According to Dukwana, the deputy should be a natural successor to the presidency…

“The wisdom in us should dictate that the deputy president ascending and becoming the president of the ANC, destroys the possibility that exists of ambitions harboured by individuals in the organisation, and that helps to unify the movement,” explains Dukwana.

Dukwana says that although he respects all the candidates to the position he is also disappointed as competition creates disunity within the party.
