With an impressive line-up of local performing artist, bands, DJs and dance crews, the Braai Day event, to be held at the Clive Solomon Rugby Stadium this Saturday 23 September, promises to be the event of the year.

To add the cherry on the cake, ex-con-turned-performing artist, Larry Joe, will also perform at the event. Apart from belting out all his favourite tunes, Larry Joe, an established artist originally from Douglas in the Northern Cape but now residing in Cape Town, will share his life story at the Braai DayCelebration.

The original idea of the Heidedal Braai Day Celebration is tied to SouthAfrica's National Heritage Day, which is celebrated on 24 September each year.It ties in with what most South Africans do, which is braai.

According to Dr Nathan Bagarette, one of the organisers of the event, the stage is set for yet another unforgettable celebration of Heidedal talent and culture.

"But as much as it is a celebration of heritage, we also want people to have a good time. Therefore we invite all people from Bloemfontein to bring the whole family for a day of braaing, mingling and dancing. Bring your braai equipment, meat, gazebos, camping chairs and cooler boxes.

"However, in order for all of us to have the time of our lives, there are some basic rules that we need to adhere to. One of those is that no glass bottles will be allowed at the venue. Remember, we are using a rugby stadium.Any broken glass left behind on the pitch can cause severe injury to the players. So, I am encouraging people to pour their drinks into plastic bottles.

"We will also not allow cars on the rugby field to avoid damage to the pitch and the sprinkler system. All cars will have to be parked in the space right outside the venue. But don't worry, your cars will be safe. The police, as well as security guards, will be on site to ensure your safety and the safety of our cars," says Bagarette.

Entrance to the event is R80 for adults and R40 for children. Gates will open at 12:00.
