Bloemfontein - Guests from across the Free State as well as the country are gathered in Bloemfontein to celebrate International Cooperatives Day.
The celebrations are taking place under the theme “Deepening Economic Transformation through a Cooperative Development in Southern Africa”.
The International Cooperatives Day, which is organised by the Department of Small Business Development, will also provide a platform for various stakeholders to share practical ideas on how the cooperatives sector can be supported and developed into a force of economic and social inclusion.
Speaking to OFM News at the event, president of cooperatives in South Africa, Lawrence Bale, explained the day, that is usually celebrated in July, could only be celebrated today as government had other commitments earlier.
President Jacob Zuma is expected to give the keynote address this afternoon.
