Wepener arson suspect due in court before the end of the month | News Article

A 26-year-old man allegedly involved in the torching of Wepener Town Hall made his first appearance before the Magistrate’s Court today and is due to appear again on August 28.

Police spokesperson, Yanga Ngcukana, says Justice Moshao was arrested for the alleged arson after the police received information that he might have started a fire at the Town Hall.

The town hall recently caught fire and it was not clear what had caused the blaze. It is alleged that Moshao is homeless and has been staying on the premises for a couple of months.

Ngcukana says the suspect faces charges of arson and investigations into the matter continues.
