Cogta to hand over tools of trade to TVET apprentices─── MOEKETSI MOGOTSI 11:48 Sun, 25 Jun 2017
Klerksdorp - Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), Des van Rooyen, will hand over protective gear as well as tools of trade to 61 apprentices at the Matlosane TVET College in Klerksdorp, in North West, on Tuesday.
This forms part of the ministry’s Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent (MISA) programme, which is responsible for supplying engineers to various local government municipalities across the country.
Cogta spokesperson, Legadima Leso, says the programme also helps in curbing youth unemployment as the students are deployed to municipalities once they graduate.
"This group of students who will be awarded these tools, and protective clothing, are the ones who have been identified by MISA. It is expected that after the completion of their education they will then join in assisting municipalities to make sure that their infrastructure is up to standard, their engineering is also sound, and benefiting communities," Leso added.
