Youth in NW deserve more opportunities─── MOEKETSI MOGOTSI 11:50 Sat, 24 Jun 2017
Rustenburg - Young people in the North West province deserve more educational and entrepreneurial opportunities.
This is according to the National Union of Mineworkers Youth Structure in North West.
The youth structure’s national spokesperson, Bonginkosi Mrasi, highlighted this is one of the issues they would like the local government to address in a memorandum of grievances delivered to the Rustenburg local municipality this morning.
He said the municipality needs to ensure that the majority of infrastructure development projects should go to the youth.
“This is an area where there is a lot of mining activity but there are mines that are working here and these mines are not complying in terms of the SLPS programmes. We are saying the municipalities and the government must take initiative and be able to make sure that all of these companies do comply. If not the DMR must be able to come in and give harsh penalties against those who don’t comply. If they don’t comply it means that a young person has forfeited an opportunity to go to school through a training programme that was supposed to be done.”
