This is according to the South African Human Rights Commission in the province.

The South African Human Rights Commission’s Provincial Manager, Mpho Boikanyo, says this is a fact that cannot be shied away from.

Boikanyo says what is unfolding in the town right now is basically a specific race going against another race.

“That shouldn’t be happening in a democratic state. What we can say as the South African Human Rights Commission is that we are really aggrieved by behaviour of certain people who seem to be inciting violence when we should be calling for unity to say what happened should not be happening. At the same time we recognise that perhaps this is an indication of work that still needs to be done,” she says.

Violence erupted in the town following the death of Matlhomola Mosweu after two men allegedly caught him stealing a sunflower at a farm.

Two men were arrested on a charge of his murder and they were released on R5 000 bail each.

Boikanyo says the community should allow the courts to do their job and let justice take its course.
