Bothaville - Water supply to residents of Bothaville and Wesselsbron in the Nala Municipality was restored last night after supply was cut by Sedibeng Water yesterday morning.

Freedom Front Plus councillor in the municipality, Desmond Reed, says he spoke to a senior manager from the municipality this morning who assured him that water supply had been restored and communities would not be without water. A meeting between Sedibeng and the municipality has been scheduled for Monday.

Reed says according to the municipality water supply was cut on Wednesday following a misunderstanding between it and Sedibeng due to residents' failure to pay the municipality. This, in turn, affected its ability to pay Sedibeng.

Reed bemoaned Sedibeng Water's handling of the situation, saying there was no prior notification that water supply would be cut, thus making the move illegal. Reed said they had reliably learned that water supply would be restored late last night for 12 hours before being cut again. The FF Plus is considering taking legal steps against Sedibeng Water as a result of its unconstitutional action.
