Expressions of sympathy for the passing of soccer stalwart─── CATHY DLODLO 12:08 Sun, 26 Mar 2017
Bloemfontein - Condolences are pouring in from all over the country after the well-known businessman and founder of the Bloemfontein Celtic Soccer Club, Rantlai Petrus Molemela, died this morning in Bloemfontein.
Details of Molemela's death is unclear at this stage. His family, however, told OFM News that a detailed media release will be issued later today.
Charley Pietersen, a lifetime friend and author of the 83-year-old Molemela's biography, I have seen it all, says his death is sad news.
"South Africa, and especially the Free State, has lost a rock," he added.
Pietersen, who was an employee of Molemela for 30 years, originally as Public Relations Officer, says Molemela was his mentor and his "coach", the father he never had.
Mangaung Executive Mayor, Olly Mlamleli, says Molemela has put the Free State and Bloemfontein on the map.
Minister of Sport, Fikile Mbalula, tweeted that Molemela's legendary spirit must rest in peace.
