Bloemfontein - The Selosesha Crime Intelligence Cluster arrested three suspects for stock theft to the value of R40 000 in Thaba Nchu on Saturday.

Police spokesperson, Martin Xuma, says police had received a tip-off about possible stock theft at the Mojanaga farm earlier.

Xuma says police stopped a bakkie with six cows on the back of a trailer near Naledi Sun and the driver could not produce stock papers to prove ownership of the cattle.

He says two Lesotho nationals and a Bloemfontein resident were then taken into police custody.

“One of the arrested suspects was a shepherd at the farm where the cattle was stolen. The farmer was called to come and identify his cattle, and he was surprised as he wasn’t aware that his cattle had been stolen. But he was happy to receive his six cattle, valued at R40 000,” he says.

Xuma says the suspects are set to appear before the Thaba Nchu Magistrate's Court on Monday.
