Harrismith - The four Katlehong People’s Taxi Association (Kapta) members who were wounded in a shooting yesterday are in a stable condition.
The four were shot by a fellow Kapta member, who shot dead one passenger before turning the gun on himself.
Free State police spokesperson, Mmako Mophiring says the incident occurred on the R74 Bergville road at a stop-and-go construction site just before 2pm yesterday.
He says six people were shot.
The 11 were returning home from a funeral in Bergville. Mophiring said the suspect had accused some of the passengers of murdering the driver they just buried.
He randomly started shooting passengers before turning the gun to himself. Mophiring said the man and one passenger died instantly. The driver of the vehicle and three passengers were referred to Thebe District hospital in Harrismth. Five other passengers in the taxi were unharmed.
The firearm used was licensed and belonged to the shooter.
A case of murder, four of attempted murder and an inquest were registered for further investigation.
