Bloemfontein - World Environment Day was celebrated yesterday and people could reconsider how they can connect with nature and protect the environment.
This year’s theme is “connecting people with nature”. Nozi Mabafokeng from the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs told OFM there are a lot people can do to preserve the environment.
“We encourage the community to practise water harvesting and waste recycling so that everything doesn’t go to the dumping site. We also donate indigenous trees all over our province, so that people are encouraged to remove invasive plants,” Mabafokeng commented.
