El Nino might just hit us again─── CATHY DLODLO 16:14 Thu, 30 Mar 2017
Bloemfontein - Early warning signs show South Africa might be hit by El Nino conditions again during the next summer season.
This is according to Cobus Olivier, scientist and meteorologist at the South African Weather Services.
El Nino is often associated with very dry conditions that can lead to a drought and water scarcity as seen up until early this year. Several provinces – including the Northern Cape, Free State and North West - were declared disaster areas last year.
Olivier says the impact might however be less devastating because of recent widespread rains.
