Bloemfontein’s Dean Burmester is looking forward to another good performance this week during the HNA French Open on the European Tour.

It’s the second event of the Rolex Series on the Tour and Burmester will be targeting another top 10 finish after a share of 9th at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth in England a few weeks ago.

Apart from a Top 10 finish, Burmester, has his sights set on one of the spots on offer to tee it up at the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale next month.

The 28-year-old player was paired with his fellow South African and good friend Darren Fichardt for today's opening round.

Speaking to OFM Sport from Paris, Burmester, said he feels like his game is right up there but it’s a matter of taking it one shot at a time.

“It’s nice to be here in Paris and playing the golf national for the first time,” said Burmester.

“The course is in amazing condition and the layout if probably the best on the European Tour.

“It’s really world class and the guys rave about it, so now I know what they are talking about.

“I am looking forward to a good week, it’s the second event of the Rolex Series and I got off to a good start in my first event.

“I feel like my game is coming around at the right time and should play pretty nicely this week.

“I’ve got a good draw, a nice afternoon draw for the opening round with my fellow South African, Darren Fichardt, and we’re good friends so we should have some fun out there.

“Then it’s a morning draw on Friday.

“It’s a matter of taking it one shot at a time and do as well as we can.”

Burmester is currently 24th in the Race to Dubai standings.
