Bloemfontein’s leading golfer, Dean Burmester, is looking forward to enjoying some time away from competitive golf following his win at the Tshwane Open on Sunday.

The win was the 27-year-old long-awaited maiden victory of the European Tour and it was one that has opened plenty of doors.

The win means that he is exempt on the Tour for the next two years and no longer needs invites to compete.

Burmester told OFM Sport that he is back in the City of Roses for the next month and he is going to enjoy some time with family and friends before his hectic European schedule starts.

“As you can imagine I’m super thrilled with the win,” said Burmester.

“My scheduling is going to change but I’ve got four weeks back here in the Free State and I’m looking forward to a little bit of rest before doing some hard work with Corné Viljoen back at Schoeman Park.

“I’m looking forward to seeing all the members and I’m sure a couple of beers and some great fun with all my friends and family.

“So it’s four weeks before I play in Morocco and then two events in China which will be my next stop.”

The player has indicated that he will be competing in the Rolex Series and the events include the European Tours flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship, the Irish, Scottish, French, Italian and Turkish Airlines Opens as well as Africa’s Major – the Nedbank Golf Challenge at the Gary Player Country Club in Sun City.
