England Women completed a 3-0 clean sweep in the T20 International series against South Africa with a dominant 9-wicket victory at SuperSport Park in Centurion on Saturday.

South Africa, missing their captain Laura Wolvaardt, batted first but struggled early, losing Anneke Bosch and Faye Tunnicliffe for a duck and 1 run, respectively. Despite a few contributions, the T20 World Cup finalists were unable to build partnerships and were bowled out for 124 in 20 overs.

Nondumiso Shangase top-scored for South Africa with 31 runs before being stumped, while Suné Luus added 21. All-rounders Annerie Dercksen and Nadine de Klerk chipped in with 19 runs each.

England’s spinner Charlie Dean starred with the ball, taking 3/26, while Lauren Bell contributed with 2/24.

In response, England chased down the modest target in just 11.3 overs. Danni Wyatt-Hodge smashed an unbeaten 53 off 31 balls, Maia Bouchier scored 35 off 21, and Sophia Dunkley finished with an unbeaten 24.

A concern for South Africa will be the 16 extras they conceded, compared to just five by England.

Charlie Dean was named Player of the Match for her stellar bowling, while Nat Sciver-Brunt, who did not play in the final match, was awarded Player of the Series for her 126 runs and 1 wicket across the first two T20Is.

England had earlier secured a 4-wicket win in the first T20I at Buffalo Park, East London, and sealed the series with a 36-run victory in the second match at Willowmoore Park, Benoni.

The action now shifts to 50-over cricket, with the first One-Day International set to take place on Wednesday at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley.
