A first Test century is high on the bucket list for the Proteas batter, Keegan Petersen, in the three-Test series against England.
This series got underway at Lord's in London this afternoon with day one of being played at the home cricket.
Petersen is back in the Proteas setup after missing out on the successful tour to New Zealand after testing positive for Covid-19.
The former Knights batter has a career highest score of 82 runs and he said he is targeting a maiden century.
“Being at the ground does bring out a lot of nervous and emotions.
“Hopefully we can get past that and focus on the game.
“As a young side we're just trying to do what we have been doing over the past couple of months and keep up the intensity that we've been playing with.
“That's the main goal for us - we're not really focused on the rest. We're doing the best we can in what we have prepared for.”
South Africa won the toss and elected to have a bowl first at Lord's.
