At the moment, Linda Zondi is serving in the role as the acting convenor of selectors, however, Cricket South Africa, is to set to be making permanent appointments soon.

Zondi, who has served in the role in the past is interested in continuing.

Mpitsang, who has also done commentary work since his retirement from first-class cricket is the current convenor of selectors for the under-19 national team and has also been approached to take over for the Proteas senior team.

It is, however, unclear if Mpitsang has or will be applying for the position.

Furthermore, the head coach role of the women’s national side will also be advertised, as well as for other management roles within the team. CSA will also be looking for a new coach for the SA under-19 team.

At the moment, Hilton Moreeng, is in charge of the Proteas women, while Lawrence Mahatlane, has been the head coach of the Junior Proteas for the past while.

Interim Director of Cricket, Graeme Smith, indicated that all of those positions will be advertised.

“We will be advertising for those positions, which is the process within Cricket South Africa. We are busy drawing the under-19, women’s management, and coaching positions as well.

“That does not stop any of the people currently in those positions to throw their name in the hat as well.”

Smith himself is set to be appointed at the full-time Director of Cricket next week. Earlier this week acting CSA CEO Jacques Faul confirmed that they are in advanced negotiations with Smith, and an announcement could be expected next week.
