The 4-Day Domestic cricket competition resumes this week following the conclusion of the inaugural Mzansi Super League.

The VKB Knights will resume their campaign with a lot of confidence following their 284 run victory over the Warriors in Kimberley before the start of the MSL T20.

While the majority of the Knights were not involved during the MSL T20 the rest of the squad were competing in provincial first-class matches for both the Free State and the Northern Cape.

This week they face the Titans at the Mangaung Oval, and the caretaker coach, Werner Coetsee, told OFM Sport that he does not expect his players to be too rusty.

“We are looking forward to some hard work before the year ends. At least in their last game, the beat the Warriors quite comfortably, and we will be looking to build on that.

“For the guys that weren’t involved in the MSL, they were at least playing for the Free State and the Northern Cape. They had two first-class matched during the MSL. At least for them, there was a lot of cricket being played and being practiced.

“We had three guys that were involved with the Jozi Stars who won the MSL T20 on Sunday, so I am sure they will be coming back feeling good about cricket and in a good space.

“Hopefully they can bring some of that confidence to the Knights as well.”

The captain, Pite van Biljon, Proteas seamer, Duanne Olivier, and spinner Eddie Leie, were all involved with the Stars. The wicket-keeper, Rudi Second, and all-rounder, Ryan McLaren, both represented the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants, while Patrick Kruger, was at the Paarl Rocks.

Furthermore, Marchant de Lange will be available for the Knights on a pay-per-play deal.

Werner Coetzee and Alan Kruger have taken over the as the Knights interim coaches following the recent departure of Nicky Bojé.

Play in Bloemfontein is scheduled to start at 10:00 on Wednesday morning.
