The fast bowler, Dale Steyn, will be making his long-awaited return to international cricket next month.
The fiery paceman, has been named in the Proteas 15-man squad for series of two Tests to be played in Sri Lanka next month.
The good news is that the South African cricket of the Year, Kagiso Rabada, has also been declared fit for the series after recovering from an injury.
The Proteas have also named three spinners in the squad, in form of Keshav Maharaj, Tabraiz Shamsi and the uncapped Shaun von Berg.
The other uncapped player in the squad is Heinrich Klaasen, who will provide cover for Quinton de Kock.
The first Test in Galle starts on 12 July.
