Defending Sunfoil Series champions, the VKB Knights, yesterday took the fight to the Titans on day 1 of their 4-day encounter at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, the home side, accompanied by a career-best 143 runs not out off 285 balls by Grant Mokoena, gave them the edge on 304 for the loss of 7 wickets at stumps on day 1.
A well balanced innings by Mokoena included 15 fours and 1 six to take him to his 7th career century and a new personal best after passing his previous highest score of 108 runs made against the Warriors earlier this season.

These sides continue to tough it out in Bloemfontein today when play gets underway at 10:00 with Mokoena still at the crease on 143 and Marchant De Lange on 9.
