At the tender age of 21-years old, the name Lungi Ngidi has started making its rounds within test cricket circles after what can only be described as an impressive debut performance.

Seamer Ngidi made his test debut for the Proteas against India in these sides 2nd Sunfoil Freedom Series test match that is being played at Supersport Park in Centurion and with the final days play still to come, he has already bagged 3 wickets.

The Durban born seamer yesterday claimed the most valuable wicket of his infant test career so far in the context of this 2nd test against India when he rapped visiting Captain and batting danger man Virat Kholi for just 5 runs in his 2nd inning.

It is this very wicket that has now swung the momentum for this test in the favor of the home side as India started their final chase of 287 late on day 4 yesterday.

Dean Elgar who partnered up with AB De Villiers to rescue South Africa from 3 runs for the loss of 2 wickets says Ngidi just brings a different flavor to the team.

"Natural ability will come our irrespective of what attitude you bring but Lungi has got a very unique and special attitude."

Elgar added that, "Im very happy for Lungi, he is a very confident young kid and his talent will only get stronger and stronger the more confident he gets."

It is unclear whether the release of batsmen Temba Bavuma was in order to make long term room for Ngidi but on thing is for sure, this youngster is hungry for more.

Ngidi will be hoping to finish off the Indians in today's last day of this test which gets underwat at 10:00
