Despite having seemed to be in the driving seat for most of the match, the VKB Knights handed the Cape Cobras a five-run victory in their Ram Slam T20 Challenge match at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley yesterday.

Having won the toss and sending the visitors to the batting crease, the Cobra’s went on to score 156 for the loss of 9 in their 20 overs thanks to a 46 run knock by opening batsman Temba Bavuma and a 31 run contribution by JP Duminy.

The Knights seemed to be on track to chase down in their turn with the willow following a quick fire 59 runs from only 32 balls by David Miller setting up what looked likely to be a simple victory.

Cobras bowler Dane Patterson however did the damage for the visitors claiming 4 wickets for 24 runs in his allotted 4 overs.

Patterson stopped the Knights train in its tracks leaving Nicky Boje’s men 5 runs short and in serious trouble of missing out on a knockout spot should they suffer another defeat to the Dolphins in their next match played in Bloemfontein tomorrow.
