Hawks to host awareness campaign at Free State municipality─── LUCKY NKUYANE 11:01 Thu, 18 Aug 2022
The government’s tender and procurement systems are set to come under scrutiny in the Free State on Friday.
The Hawks in the Free State have an awareness campaign in the Kroonstad-based Moqhaka Local Municipality on Friday. According to the Hawks spokesperson, Christopher Singo, government employees responsible for, amongst others, procumbent and finance, including senior managers who approve tender documents, will be educated about corruption. OFM News previously reported that 15 municipalities in the province are being probed by the Hawks for the alleged contravention of the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA), amongst others.

Singo says the Hawks seek to build a relationship with all government entities and employees and give them information on how to report the crime.
“Our duty is not only to arrest or investigate people, we also educate and inform government employees. Our campaign is not based on any suspicion, it's part of our mandate. We are not only involved in arresting people, we also build a relationship,” Singo adds.
