A career expo, hosted by the Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (Destea) over two days (from Thursday and Friday), showcased the latest innovations in tourism.
64 exhibitors from tourism sub-sectors - including hospitality, marketing, events management, transport, academia and tourism development, formed part of the event held in Bloemfontein.
25 industry experts also shared their expertise over the course of the event. Bella Orr from "Ship-a-shore" - a company that helps to train people to work on cruise ships, and which also exhibited at the expo - says the sector can effectively tackle the unemployment rate in South Africa.
She adds that the unemployment rate is much higher compared to the United States, for example.
