Disgruntled residents to meet Letsemeng mayor─── LUCKY NKUYANE 08:46 Fri, 25 Sep 2020
Irate residents of Bolokanang near Petrusburg in Letsemeng Local Municipality will on Friday, for the second time following a wave of protests in the area, meet with their embattled mayor over concerns of poor service delivery.
These Free State residents had given mayor Sello Bahumi and his team a full week to come up with tangible solutions to their service delivery woes. Residents have earlier told OFM News that amongst other service delivery woes, residents face unemployment, running sewage, inconsistent water supply, and the absence of Mass Street Lighting in the area. Bahumi, who is also a councillor in the area, vowed to come through and bring solutions to these issues.
Residents earlier used burning tyres, waste refuse and rocks to block the N8 road.
The violent protests in the area forced schools to shut down and local small businessesto close their doors. Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, previously told OFM News that he could not divulge as to how many residents the police have apprehended as a result of the violent protests in Bolokanang.
