NW municipality intends to cut electricity supply to two hospitals | News Article

The City of Matlosana Local Municipality in the North West has issued a public notice indicating the intention to interrupt electricity supply to both Klerksdorp and Tshepong hospitals on Friday.

This is due to both hospitals' municipal accounts being in arrears.

The notice comes after President Cyril Ramaphosa announced a 21-day national lockdown from midnight 26 March. OFM News then contacted the hospitals' spokesperson, Nico Masiu, who stated that the matter is being handled by the legal department and engagement has been ongoing between the hospital and the office of the municipal manager.

Masiu further added that a meeting was scheduled for today, 24 March but was postponed due to other commitments from a senior official at the hospital.

Municipal spokesperson, Ntswaki Makhetha, says they will release a statement on the matter.

Meanwhile, Covid-19 testing is made available at the Tshepong hospital.
