Truck collides with school bus─── MARVIN NTSANE 15:48 Wed, 26 Feb 2020
A total of 16 learners were injured and did not make it to school today after the bus they were travelling in was involved in an accident at Ventersdorp, in the North West.
The North West police spokesperson, Pelonomi Makau, says at 07:40 on Wednesday morning, a truck collided with a school bus transporting learners to school.
The accident happened on the R30 road between Ventersdorp and Klerksdorp. The injured learners were taken to a nearby hospital to receive treatment. Makau says the cause of the accident is still unknown. A case of reckless driving was registered at the Ventersdorp Police Station.
Last year OFM News reported that two learners died and 20 were injured during a bus accident near Zeerust, in North West. It was alleged that the driver of the school bus had left the bus with the engine running and chased a hitchhiker who did not pay him R20. The bus rolled and overturned on its side.
