Woman (22) found murdered in Welkom─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 09:52 Mon, 09 Dec 2019
The police in the Free State are investigating a case of murder after the body of the 22-year-old Nthabiseng Rampai was found in her bedroom at De Wet, Reitzpark, in Welkom.
It is alleged Rampai was raped and murdered in her bedroom by a suspect who waited for her father to leave the house before he broke in and attacked her.
Police spokesperson, Motantsi Makhele, says when the body of the 22-year-old was found, her hands were tied up and she had strangled marks around her neck. There was also an A4 paper next to her with a written message: "STOP ASSAULTING INMATES". He says an open wallet with cards, including a driver’s license belonging to the victim, was found next to her body. Makhele adds the motive for the killing is not yet known and no arrests have yet been made.
“Anyone with information leading to the arrest of the suspect can contact Detective Warrant Officer Jerry Lenyane of Welkom Detective Services at 083-426-8343,” said Makhele.
