This is according to Northern Cape Sports, Arts and Culture MEC, Maruping Lekwene who stated that over 12 000 people attended the festival. Lewene further said that in order to attract more tourists to the province, they strive to make extreme sports the focus of the Northern Cape. 

The festival has attracted people from all walks of life to the diamond city. Athlete's from 16 countries, which included Russia, the United Kingdom, the United States of America and Canada, took part in the programme. 

CEO of the Northern Cape Tourism Authority, Sharon Lewis, told OFM News that the department is happy to have the KDC back. Lewis added that the KDC will continue for the next three years. According to her, skating, BMX and FMX now forms an essential part of the festival.

According to acting programme manager for the Northern Cape Tourism Department of Economic Development and Tourism, Sipho Mampe, the event was a massive success which has shown that the province can be positioned as an Extreme Sport destination.
